Bill Skarsgård officially joins the cast of The Divergent Series: Allegiant Part 1 as Matthew! Yesterday the Divergent officials from Twitter posted the final confirmation of Bill Skarsgård joining the cast of Allegiant.
It was already rumored by “The Wrap” about 2 weeks ago that he would be joining the cast, but with an unknown character. Now here are some recaps of Bill if you may not know him as well as we think we do…
Bill Istvan Günther Skarsgård (born 9 August 1990) is a Swedish actor, known for his roles in Simple Simon and Hemlock Grove.
Skarsgård is the son of actor Stellan Skarsgård, and My Skarsgård, and the brother of Alexander, Gustaf, Sam, Eija, Valter and half-brother to Ossian and Kolbjörn. In 2011, Skarsgård was nominated for a Guldbagge Award for his leading role as Simon in Simple Simon.
In April 2014, Skarsgård featured on the cover of Hero – a bi-annual men’s fashion and culture magazine, shot by Hedi Slimane. In the issue, he is interviewed by his father, Stellan Skarsgård.

Matthew entered the series in Allegiant. Matthew worked for the Bureau of Genetic Welfare and was one of Tris’s friends who helped her stop the Bureau from using the Memory Serum on their experiments.
Although Matthew is a GP, he disapproves of the Bureau’s views of the GD. When Tris told Matthew that Nita had told her about a plan, he told Tris that had helped Nita but stopped when he found out she was stealing the Death Serum. Matthew helped Tris stop David from using the Memory Serum on the experiments. Matthew, Cara, and Caleb worked on a stronger version of Truth Serum that would work on the Divergent, but with no success.
It is revealed that Matthew had dated a girl who was a GD and had changed him to the man he is today.
Physical Description
Tris described Matthew as being as tall as Caleb, his black hair artfully tousled into looking like he just woke up from bed, and about as old as Tobias. Matthew always wears a dark green string around his neck. He wears a blue uniform due to the fact that he is a GP. He is also described as having a curve to his eyes suggesting Asian descent.
